The positive meaning of the seahorse (hippocampus from the greek hippos (horse) + kampos (sea monster) comes from both ancient Asian and European cultures. It's a symbol of power: the Asians considered it a drogon, which brought good luck. The ancient Greeks and Romans associated it with the god of the most powerful of Olympus. It brings with it patience and persistence: in times of turbulent sea, it wraps its tail to a foothold, to remain even in adversity.
